That's what I was thinking, surely they can't do spraymalt so cheaply.GARYSMIFF wrote:Do they mean this and not malt!

Re: Hello from Wilkinson
Yeah, it's the brewing sugar that is £2 (or free with a kit).
I'd guess it's just glucose and/or dextrose.

Re: Hello from Wilkinson
Yeah it is, I found that, I'd just heard rumours of cheap malt and got exited :s

Re: Hello from Wilkinson
Hi everyone.
Sorry I have been away for a while. I had a little holiday and I also look after otrher ranges too.
Thanks for all the feedback, suggestiuons and comments. I had a meeting with our supplier last week and we were going through the additional lines picked up in this thread. No promises yet, but lager yeast, dried hops, larger tubs of steriliser, are just some of the samples I was looking at. I am also trying out some new display ideas that would hopefully mean I can get more products in the same space.
Keep the feedback coming
Cheers

Re: Hello from Wilkinson
Great news Steve, glad to see that you are back, and looking into new products.
I am currently drinking the Velvet Stout, which i did with 1Kg of Brew Enhancer, been bottled for 4 weeks now and it's pretty good stuff I have to say. I am quite surprised for a 1.5Kg kit, but it's got a nice chocolate flavour, and is a good dark colour - It's not going to win any awards, but it's a great everyday stout at about 4.2% ABV, and at a tenner, you can't really go wrong.
Picked up a Pilsner this weekend and have got that on the go with one of my free bags of brewing sugar, so lets see how that turns out.
I would say the pricing of the 2 can kits seems a little high IMHO. Apart from the Wherry kit at £18, most branded 2 can kits on the internet and in HBS, are around the £20-£25 mark - I would have thought pricing them more competitively at around £17 - £18 would have been a good idea.
Any idea on the sales of the 2 Can v 1 Can kits Steve - be interesting to know which is proving the most popular?

Re: Hello from Wilkinson
Hi Steve,
Got to agree with trickydicky about pricing of 2 can kits, surely they don't warrant the extra premium when compared to wherry for £18 and even 2 of your one can kits plus you get free brewing sugar. Dried hops would be good as dry hopping is very popular with even kit brewers. Different yeast would be good maybe sarfale S-04 or even US-05.
Cheers

Hi Steve, I have just started the six bottle Cabernet Sauvignon kit. As a novice to all aspects of home brew I will be interested how the kit turns out and will feedback when complete and enjoyed. Just an idea about space and layout instore. Why don't you use clip strips on the edge of each shelving meter for things like the packets of yeast etc. it should free up another slot on the shelf for an extra line of wine kit fr example.
Cheers Chris

I don't have much say in the pricing side of things but I will certainly pass on your comments to the person who does

Seriously though, I am not aware that we will be doing that price again in the near future. As said above, £18 is a competetive price by the sounds of it. Again, I will pass on your comment to the person who sets the prices

Hi Chris
Clip strips are something that we used to use a lot. A while ago we removed them from all layouts as they were hard to maintain operationally. Having said that, we have seen a few making an appearance on other layouts, so it is an option. We are currently working with our supplier to review the packaging sizes of some of products. Some packaging has wasted space that if removed would mean we could get another shelf of stock on each layout. If we can unlock that space, then the various items that have been mentioned on this thread could fit in.
Cheers
Steve
