I'm gonna have to try doing a TC given your passion for them. Do they ferment out really dry?

Well that's me all brewed up! For this challenge I used the following:

*1 x Geordie Bitter kit
*1kg Light Spray Malt
*1kg BKE
*57g challenger hops, steeped for an indeterminate period of time
*50g EKG dry hop

I switched the Coopers RA for the Geordie because the Geordie is 200g lighter and there are 2kg of additional fermentables in there. I hope the kit yeast can cope!

At the same time o brewed up a Ditch-inspired stout. I am not allowed to call it a Ditch's stout because:

*instead of using incredibly soft Irish tap water I used my hard London water
*instead of using a mug of raw organic cane sugar I used Tate & Lyle golden granulated because it's all I had. Also I just estimated a mugs worth and threw it in the FV straight from the pack
*no power drill was involved
*i didn't use a campden tablet
*there is not a fish tank heater in sight
*the brew will be bottled

Ditch this might not be your stout but I wouldn't have made it were it not for your inspiration.

So...two brews brewed together. Would I do two at the same time again? Not on your nelly! My kettle doesn't boil fast enough so any efficiency saving is lost in waiting for hot water, lots of standing around waiting means the wort cools quicker, DME takes longer to dissolve, more gear cluttering up the kitchen getting in my way....b*****s to that mate; one at a time from now on

There you go guys...first into the bottle. In at 1012, a couple points above expected FG with 40 g priming, don't like fizzy ESB. With a new practice, last dregs plus some slurry into a clear PET , gives me same strain if I decide to replicate. Reckon a few weeks then get busy!!

Can I join in on this? I've got an out of date Hambleton Bard Bitter kit, various sorts of sugar, some progress and bramling cross hops and a lot of different grains to do a mini mash to add to the kit...if that's not breaking the rules too much I'll get brewing on Friday and post the complete recipe.

Yeah not much priming but hoping bottling a little high may help. However, I don't really worry about carbing. I used the kit yeast from coopers which I believe is australian ale, the dried version of wlp 009? Brew date was boxing day, kept at 20c , went off like a train, didn't dry hop in end .

Dried Coopers kit yeast isn't the yeast they use in their own ales, which is WLP009 apparently. But worth saving in case it works well.

It was a good un. Good attenuation, decent flocculation. Not particularly clear on bottling, didn't cold crash as I would normally

Of course you can. We don't really enforce the rules that we make up as we go along!
