LOL. There was a question about rules. I was attempting to provide reassurance!

I take it we're all swapping bottles when we're done? Are the posh people engaging with us on this or are we just doing this ourselves?

I'll give this a go.

not sure whether to order some more stuff in, or just "give it a go with what I have..."

I have:
- a coopers real ale kit
- 2 kg of Muntons brew enhancer (which is 50/50 light spray malt and dextrose)
- 1 kg coopers brew enhancer 1
- 1 kg coopers brew enhancer 2.
- some hops - some Centennial left not sure how much, and approx 50g of EKG left.
- a big dollop of Safale-US05 in the fridge from my last brew bottled this week (Way to Amarillo). specifically about 350ml of yeast/beer slurry. This was put into a sterilized bottle so hopefully should be fine to use?

the easily led part of me thinks to just make
- the coopers real ale kit
- 1kg muntons enhancer
- 1 coopers brew enhancer 2
- maybe make a hop tea with some centennial. or just hop tea with EKG and then dry hop?!

or do I need to get all fancy and order some darker extract in and maybe Challenger or fuggles hop?

Hazel - it looks like you've enough gear in to get involved. There's no real prescription. Get on it!

Gaz - if you're in Birstall you're within 10 minutes of my wife's parents (East Bierley). If we're bottle swapping, we can save on postage next time we pop up to Bradford ;)

no real prescription, but... but... there must be rules surely...! :/ ? how will I know if I am doing it "right"? ;)

I will summon energy. Have bottled 40 litres in the last two days.. yuk. I need to find a quicker way of bottling, or another way of storing once done.

Yep...bottling's a right chore innit! I've got 2 FVs on the go...not looking forward to de-labelling, cleaning and sanitising 80 bottles and caps!

I started two FV just after Christmas. on the 27th. both in the same night, one with a 60 minute boil, the other normal kit. bottled one on wednesday, one tonight.

and yes, cleaning, sterilizing, rinsing, bottling, cleaning FV etc is a pain.

Brewed Friday 16th to 18l.

1 can Hambleton Bard bitter kit

+

800g Maris Otter, 45g flaked corn, 90g carapils, 100g crystal, 25g chocolate malt mashed at 65 degrees for 1 hour

+

100g golden syrup

+

10g progress @60 mins, 10g bramling cross @ 10 mins, 7g progress & 7g bramling cross @ 5 mins.

Pitched the kit yeast and this morning there's a healthy krausen. I'll be dry hopping in a week or so with some more progress and bramling cross.

Cheers - Louis MacNeice
