king keg pressure

i have been conditioning a landlord clone for 5 weeks now, however is it normal that i have to apply co2 top pressure every week. there is no apparent leaks but would of thought it should be producing co2 from its secondary fermentation.
i know that when dispensing it will require a co2 bulb to help dispense when ready to drink. would welcome anybody's thoughts.

Did you prime with 70g sugar when you kegged? It will soak up quite a lot of CO2 in the first few weeks if you are force carbonating, Have you tested the barrel with a soap solution around the fittings?

How do you know he's used 5 bulbs?

Ah, I didn't realise you couldn't use just a bit of the bulb, I thought that you had some insider knowledge or something.

Is it a top tap or a bottom tap keg?

hello, thanks for your replies. been adding co2 top pressure from cylinder just a squirt every week. used 100g sraymalt as primings and i am quite sure now there are no leaks. the beer has not quite cleared yet but didn't fine anyway. rich
