Hi gang
I pitched 2 more beers yesterday-brewferm abbey and muntons cerveza
I used wyeast abbey in one and wyeast london ale in the other, put both fermenters in my brew room and than last night we had a cold front come in minus 15-20f (you dont want to be outside),the brew room went down to 40f(the heat in the house can not keep up)I checked the beers this morning and no activity at all, looks like the yeast didnt take,I moved the beers to a warmer closet, would you suggest re-pitching yeast or hope the original yeast will come good
Cheers
Paul

Buy a brew belt, I leave mine out in the shed and it maintains tempreture and on really cold nights I put a jacket oner the FV.

Oh well the Abbey seems to of died,it is not fermenting any more no more yeast head and stinks really bad, worse than smelly eggs.
At first thought maybe it had finished,so took a reading-it was at 1016 from 1060-that looked pretty good(ABV 5.7) had a taste almost spat it back out-not quite sure how to explain-wasnt like TCP,really sweet at first than stuck in throat like artificial sugar and there was no aroma or taste of anything like a beer.
Should of posted here first but all you guys are sleeping now and I couldnt stand the smell so down the drain it went :(
The cerveza is still bubbling away,so lets hope thats fine.
Cheers Paul

BTW-as I was pouring the beer away I start to wonder if any of my beer is good-I had tried a bottle of the IPA at the weekend and it wasnt very hoppy but had a great taste,so tonight I had a couple of bottles of coopers lager in the fridge,so decided to crack one-little bit of a fizz as the cap was turned, poured into a glass-nice head formed, quickly dissappeared, some signs of bubbles, bit cloudy, took a sip had a very nice aroma to it,tasted a bit yeasty-which I expected as I only bottled/kegged last Saturday, but at least it put my mind to rest that at least Im on the right track.so went to the store and bought a 1/2 keg of Fosters which should keep me occupied untill my homebrews are ready.
