Just syphon beer into keg question

Hi all,

Just siphoned my beer into the storage keg and was wondering whether or not I needed one of the Co2 bulbs at this stage or can it be added at a later time, when I start to draw the beer from the keg?

Am I right in thinking that the Co2 bulb takes up the void of the beer that has been drawn off and enables the beer to be stored longer?

I added priming sugar to keg before transferring from bucket, does that mean I don't need Co2 bulbs?

how long will beer last in keg?
