just about to make this kit, just one question. It says use 500g of dry malt which i have and 350g of dextrose/sugar but i remember reading here not to use sugar, should i use more dry malt?

I would definately go with the dextrose. The last thing you want is a full bodied, malty, dark wheat beer. You could even use a kilo of 'beerkit enhancer' which is a mix of DME and dextrose.

I agree with DaaB the Coopers kits are great. I experimented with the more expensive ones like Muntons Gold but never got good results. Coopers IPA was the best one I tried, and Bavarian lager is quite good too.

i'm like a little kid waiting for santa, straight in from work and before i spoke a word to anybody i checked the beer, bubbling every second. It's gonna be a long wait! wish i had another fermenter i'd start the other kit i bought

after less than 48 hours the fermentation has slowed so much it has almost stopped is this normal? i stuck my big nose in to smell it and the gas burned the inside of my nose fo a second and made my eyes water so it's obviously still fermenting. there seems to be bubbles rising in it an the scum that was on the top is as good as gone.

ah yes but in there lies the madness co2 is heavier than oxygen so i let out a little burst just to (hopefully) expell the oxygen and i won't drink it til i get gas. Am i right or slightly stupid or both? i have a few bottles aswell just for a taster

Should be great. I can't wait to brew my next wheat beer. When you go all-grain Alexander (you inevitably will) wheats cost about a fiver to brew.

i'm living in a 2 bedroom apartment right now so i haven't got the room to swing a cat but tomorrow i sign the contract for my house and i'll have some brewing room, i'll be off line for a month or 2 and i'll probably do a few more kits just to get used to it all. I've only really done one proper kit and i made a few mistakes but i think i got away with them. I don't feel even nearly comfortable enough yet to go all grain but the idea does excite me
