Geordie yet again

Post by eeyores61 » Sun Mar 30, 2008 11:40 am

I only had a 20 litre fermenter so added less water. Just checked hydro reading and had a tiny taste. It's rather bitter, and I'm guessing that's because it's a bit concentrated. Should I water it down a bit (now that the vigorous fermentation has died down) before conditioning it?
Or just drink it with cheese and pickled onions :D

Personal choice reigns supreme :D

I've had the full 40 pint Geordie and I liked it but a stronger version might be nice too, if it were me I'd water it to 40 pints because I want more for my pound.

Why not put 1/2 of it in bottles (suitably primed) and then water down the rest to see what difference it makes, then next time you can make an informed choice

the bitterness should subside with time, you could leave it a couple of weeks.... or just drink it and ptu it down to experience

Thanks, sounds hopeful! Might leave it strong because I'm short of bottles. Planning to put some in an empty 18 pint polypin for early drinking, but that's still 14 pints to find a home for. I'm not getting through so many tonic bottles since the discovery of ginger beer and turbo cider!

It was like rocket fuel.
:D

Will bear that in mind!

All now in various containers for conditioning, going to be hard to give it time to settle.
