another stupid mistake!

Post by yeasty » Sun Apr 20, 2008 7:03 pm

Just got my 4th brew on the go, Woodforde's Headcracker. But I forgot to take the gravity reading before I added the yeast. I realised straight away and took a reading.

Is this reading unreliable? It was 1.066. I used rehydrated S-04 yeast with a 1/4 teaspoon of yeast vit.

Sorry, still learning!

That should be fine - it probably hadn't even started fermenting.

Thanks guys.

I hoped that would be the case but thought I would check.

I tried taking my first reading in my 1st brew in the fermenter and found it impossible with all the foam so got myself a trial jar and use a sterilised turkey baster. Just got to remember to use them now!
