First time attempt at brewing

Post by pmd2579 » Sat May 10, 2008 9:29 pm

I have recently purchased a microbrewery system with the woodfordes wherry kit included, it is currently underway in my king keg pressure barrel, after 14 days i will transfer it to cooler conditions for about 7 days. Can i then transfer it to bottles straight from the keg or is there anything else i need to do ( add sugar?). The reason i am keen to bottle it,is so that i can get my next brew underway. As i am a totally new to brewing all help however basic will be greatly appreciated.

You should be OK to bottle after 10 days, just check that it has finished fermenting by checking it with the hydrometer not sure what it should finish at but I would say about 1.012/14.When bottling don't forget to add priming sugar to the bottles either half a tsp or a tsp depend on how fizzy you like it. When you have bottled them leave at them room temp for secondary fermentation for a week or two this will give the fizz to the beer, I usually do two weeks, then leave in a cooler place if you have one for another couple of weeks to clear and mature a bit.
