BREWING FOR PARTY!!!!!

Post by andyjc » Thu Jun 12, 2008 8:50 pm

Help please. Can anyone tell me what is the best way to dispence beer for a party?
I am brewing 2 barrels of beer in KK top tap barrels and was just going to top up the pressure when needed with co2 bulbs. I know this could be expensive but a) I assume it would work & b) the mother-in-law is paying.
Any advice gratefully received.
Cheers. :?

Well there's nothing like a couple of beer engines for impressing people at a party...but if you can't do that then what you suggest sounds fine. Just make sure it's had time to settle and wrap a few wet towels around the kegs to help cool them down.

If your not paying surgest a few cornies for a long term investment!

In response to Totem, good call man. Maybe Widget World system in near future.
Response to steve_flack, beer will be in barrel for approx. 4/5 weeks prior to party. Wet towels around kegs during party? Sounds a good idea. Cheers chap.
Suppose the co2 bulb idea is not ideal but will do the job I guess. Hope it won't affect the brew in any way.................
Should I let the beer settle between re-gasing?

If youve not already bought the kegs the cornies are not that much more expensive - you can let the beer fall bright before kegging which add to the apeal and throwing them in the fridge is easer to do than kegs.

Using the c02 bulb will work fine and will give enough pressure to form a head on any pint. If using a widget world c02 injector it would be the same except you have a bit more control over how much gas you inject and it's cheaper in the long run. You wont need to allow the beer to settle after gassing either.
