HELP!! i think i have ruined my brew
Hi guys,
just made myself an EDME stout kit but When I mixed all the sugar and extract together and then topped it up to 22 litres, I mistakenly switch my tap on so that it dumped 19 litres of hot water into the bucket instead of 19 litres cold water.
im worried I may have added infected water!! i have a combi boiler, not a tank hot water system if that makes any differance. The wort is now sitting at approx 50 degree c and its in a bath of cold water to get the temp down so I can pitch the yeast
have i ruined my brew??

Repeat the Mantra RDWHAHB,
The only slight issue you could have had is that you will have added water with Chlorine in it (heating is not that good at driving off chlorine especially Chloramine) . . . but as you were going to use the cold water tap anyway that is obviously not a concern for you.
At least you realised before you added the yeast, just cool the wort and pitch the yeast . . . you can pitch at 25C and continue cooling

Last time I did that, I left the bath running, and discovered that the overflow wasn't connected . . . . Was downstairs in the kitchen when water started pouring through the ceiling . . . ."I doesn't normally Rain Indoors" . . . ."Shit"beesley121 wrote:so anyways its in the bath at the minute, full to the brim with cold water.

i know the feeling, ive flooded my house a couple of times when I had my 6ft marine aquarium upstairs. I have it downstairs instead now because of the flooding issue but it has happen downstairs too
