I've just transfered my Woodford's Wharry into my corny, with some DME (70g or so for the 18L) & some beer brite finings.
So my question is, do I need a bubble lock on my corny & should I expect the pressure in the corny to increase or decrease i.e last nigh it was at 5psi (at 20c), it's now down to just over 1psi today ?
As for the tranfer, I boiled 250ml of water, added the DME, microwaved it back to the boil, let it cool. Added the beer brite (as per instuctions), then poured this into the bottom of my corny. Connected a pipe to the FV tap & into the bottom of the Corny. Once full, I topped off the Corny with a blast of CO2 (released & repeated) to drive out any air.
Owww prior to the transfer, I'd filled the corny with 10psi of CO2, dropped the pressure, opened the lid & left a small space for the hose, with the view that the rising liquid would have a column of CO2 on it, to protect it.
Thanks in advance.
Darren.

Thanks for that DaaBs, I like to say that the above is all my own work but as you're no doubt aware, I've just lifted this info, straight from this board, as it's a wealth of information, submitted by people who have a real passion for their hobbyDaaB wrote:Sounds good to me![]()
You can vent the corni periodically as this may be beneficial for the beer instead of using an airlock, this is a personal choice thing.
At a guess i'd say the rise and drop was due to co2 coming out of suspension during transfer and more co2 being produced and reabsorbed by the beer. (I wouldn't worry about it personally).

Thanks again
