a winters ale

I have grown in confidence to the extent that I'm planning a heavier ale kit for Autumn and Winter, a dogbolter or similar probably for the barrel (how long would this keep, stronger means longer?). Some barley wine type of thing to bottle. What advice fellow brewers? It seems a long way off but I'm sure that if I 'lay down' some bottles soon they will be nicely matured for winter.

I don't have any real advise but to say that stronger maltier beers seem easier to make as they hide off flavours well. I reckon if you can keep your hands off it long enough to mature properly it's hard to make a truly bad beer of this style.
