I've just bought a home brewing kit (It's the Youngs larger starter kit) but have notice my fermenting tub does not have an air lock. Is this safe or have I got a larger bomb in the making?
I tend to snap on the lid all the way round, then unsnap a tiny little to allow for pressure release. This way, the very minimum of outside air will be exposed to the wort through diffusion, thereby minimizing the risk of infection.
