coopers european lager

Post by williamoid » Mon Sep 15, 2008 8:47 pm

hi all, for my second batch i bought a coopers european lager. on the tin it says leave in bottle for 3 months. so i though, thirsty man hear, i can`t wait 3 months. so i took it back to exchange for a 3 weeker.
the lady in the hb shop told me it would be ready to drink in 3 weeks and they just write 3 months on the tin as maximum.
so, would it be ok to drink in 3 weeks time.
cheers,
willie

As the Euro Lager uses Lager Yeast - this can produce some very strange tastes and aromas. Have a wiff at some of the fumes coming out of your airlock, mmmh rotten eggs lovely?

These will dissipate with age, hence the 3 months in the bottle.

You can certainly drink it a lot sooner, I have brewed the Bavarian Lager several times and it has never got to the 3 months stage before being finished off.

But if you want a nicer beer and perhaps to impress your friends, leaving it longer will make people think you are a master brewer.

Im just about to start a new batch of Euro Lager at the weekend, hope to leave this one botled till xmas - doubt it though! Said that last time, and the time before that etc

I bottled my coopers euro lager last week and have now moved this to the garage and although I will have a wee sample of it now and again I will leave it for around xmas time

I have my aussie lager to keep me going just now and will be bottling my canadian beer at the weekend which i'll hopefully keep until next month before drinking.........
