Hello there. I would like to brew a strong stout around 6-8%. I have 1.8kg of muntons dark liquid malt extract and 1kg of sugar already and can purchase an edme stout kit from down the road.

my question is can i put those two cans together and add the 1kg of sugar aswell?
would this work and give me a strong stout.
any problems in taste you can foresee.
Cheers.

I'd say no. If you add the lme and the sugar, you'll get a lot more alcohol and no body to balance it out.

If you want it to be stronger, make it up with a bit less water.
20 litres instead of 25 for example.

I'm fermenting this at the moment. I used 1Kg of Munton's beer enhancer and made it up to 21 litres.
OG was about 1045.

After 10 days on the yeast it's pretty much stabilised at around 1012. If it's the same when I check it tonight its bottling time :)

According to the Calculator this gives me a 5% brew :D
