FV Thermometer

Post by JayBee » Wed Oct 29, 2008 1:32 pm

I dont have much temperature control around my FV apart from wrapping a fleecy underblanket around it at night. I have one of those thermometers that fixes to the outside of the FV and the temperature seems OK. I was wondering if anyone had any idea what the liquid temperature might be if the stick on thermometer was reading 20 celsius. I`m a bit worried about the night time temp at the moment and don`t like to use a brew belt and to make it worse SWMBO would prefer the fleecy blanket on the bed for goodness sake.

You could try establishing the differential temperature :)

Sanitise whichever thermometer you use on brewday, shove it in the fermenting beer and read the temperature. Compare this with the other thermometer stuck on the outside of the fermenter.

If the inside temp is e.g. 2 ÌŠC higher than the outside then you'll know you always have to add 2 ÌŠC to the reading :D
