Hello all, I'm new to this forum and home brewing. I have just bought a youngs brew buddy from wilkinsons and my first fermentation seems to have worked fine, I have transferred it to a youngs pressure barrel I bought from the same store and added 80g sugar. Can anyone tell me if I am facing the possibility of too much co2 pressure inside the barrel? Will this barrel provide adequate co2 for my beer? and how do I release or know how much pressure needs releasing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Cheers, Chris.

Re: Pressure Barrel help needed please!
I use that exact bit of kit, to make sure I get enough pressure in my barrel I put a tablespoon of the white yeast into the bucket at syphoning time, if yout beer starts to run slowly out of the tap stop before it glugs any air!
I generally get over 1/2 a barrel of pressurised beer by the time it runs out and then open the lid to let gravity do the rest, if you fit an S30 valve to your lid you can use bottled CO2 instead and enjoy your beer for much longer

Im still fairly new to this brewing myself but ive two barrells done about five batchs in each. i find that after transfering to the barrell leaveit in the same place you did the ferment for about a week, then i move the keg to the outhouse or anywhere cool and where you will be pouring from for at least four weeks, this conditions the brew and build the preasure. i dont add any gas until the beer is stuggling out of the tab (i have tap taps) and i find this is around half way through the beer, beware not to add to much co2 just enough to get it pouring again.
