OK Having done a brewpacks burkby bitter and a whodfordes wherry I'm going to try a budget kit. I have an EDME bitter and 1kg of light spray malt and some goldings hops. I will add the spray malt to the kit instead of sugar but my question is should I add any hops and if so how much and how to? Do I steep or boil with the spray malt?
I am hoping this it the last kit I do if I can source the kit to build a boiler and CFC to go AG soon.
EDME Bitter kit modifications
Re: EDME Bitter kit modifications
I'm don't know if that kit needs any extra bitterness. If it does, I usually boil 15-20g in the water I use to rinse the kits can for about 20-30 minutes.
Then, for extra aroma, I would dry-hop in the FV with another 15g for about 4-5 days before bottling/kegging

Re: EDME Bitter kit modifications
OK thanks for that, Never tried try hopping before. Is it likey to clog my tap in the FV when it comes to racking off my beer into the keg?
Also I read somewhere that the budget kits tend to lack hops aroma compared to the 3kg kits, not necessarily the bitterness, so could I not just achieve the aroma restoration by steeping rather than dy hopping?

Re: EDME Bitter kit modifications
If you want to dry hop, you can simply put the hops in a nylon bag, and drop it in the FV
I believe the final results of dry hopping/steeping are probably quite similar, but I've never done a direct comparison so I cannot be 100% sure.
