I've had a Geordie lager fermenting for 7 days now. I've just checked the SG and it is at 1.008 (kit states 1.005 or below) however the majority of visible fermentation has ceased.
Am I ok to bottle today?
Cheers
ps. I have checked the differences in temperature and corrected it to approx 1.009
Fermentation stopped and final SG question
Re: Fermentation stopped and final SG question
Check it again tomorrow, you should be looking for two stable readings before bottling, but the OG figure is fine.
Re: Fermentation stopped and final SG question
great stuff!
So as long as I obtain two readings the same when visible fermentation has finished, it is ready to bottle? Also, as these readings are within 6 points of the manufacturers final SG reading then it is ok?

Re: Fermentation stopped and final SG question
It will be fine. The gravity on the instructions an the gravity you end up with very rarely match. There is too many variables to get it dead on. IIRC my last batch was sposed to be 1006 but it stopped at 1010 so i just bottled it, its fine it tastes great ^^

I went ahead and kegged it anyway as all other conditions were great!
I ended up starting another kit today and a wine and also bought a new FV (TDATTOTS (The Darkness At The Top Of The Stairs) will kill me when she gets home from work!!)
