ANOTHER woodefordes wherry question....

Post by Tidyguy » Wed Nov 26, 2008 10:24 am

Quick question guys....wherry kit was delivered this morning, but having a scan over the instructions it doesnt say to add any sugar....its literally mix cans with warm water, chuck yeast in and leave it. If i added more sugar to it im assuming this would raise the OG a bit? would it knacker the beer too much? couldnt find any safale SO4 so ive got SO5 instead....anyone used this before?

Replace warm with 6 points boiled water otherwise the extract will be difficult to mix. Your kit should have been supplied with a sachet of yeast which you should use.

No need to add sugar in the Wherry kits.

Depends if you want to get anywhere near their outrageous OG claims!

I agree with KevP - I now mix up some Beer Kit Enhancer with hot water in one of the empty tins and add it to the wort to get the OG to about 1048/1050 with my Wherry kits.

Yeah I've seen lots of folks complaints about the gravity misses. I've not had either of the usual issues though (always gets down to at least 1010 and if it starts a little then it finishes lower as well).

As long as it tastes great! I may strengthen it up anayway a bit in future as I find it mellower than the Delai Llama's chief Mellow Monk.

Me too mate, I always add to aim at 1050, no point brewing if its weak as rats pee!
