edme lager kit

happy new year all

started an edme german lager kit yesterday with geordie beer enhancer and a pinch if yeast nutrient.
thing is....no bubbles at all thru the airlock although the sg has dropped from 1044 down to just under 1030 in 36 hours and it stinks like acrid farts.
the boss {swmbo} has been blaming me all day and i daren`t tell her its the brew.

what happens chemically to create such a devils pong?

The fart smell is ok, it will go after a few days. The fermentation gas is probably leaking out somewhere other than your airlock - check your airlock bung and your lid seal.

had this problem before with my wherry {not the pong} with the gas escaping somewhere but im blowed if i could find out where.
i followed the advice on here about using vaseline on the rim to make a good seal but it still doesnt seem to help.
