does beer taste better if made in metal vessels???
does beer taste better if made in metal vessels??? i presume all brewerys use metal vessels & not plastic. our plastic barrels always have a funny plasticy smell about them. we have 3 different type of barrel & they all smell similar. unless its something we are doing wrong
Re: does beer taste better if made in metal vessels???
After you have cleaned a barrel or bucket it should not smell of plastic. I find the smell that lingers the most in my FV is hops, and if I can smell them I know I have not washed the FV well enough! Give it a good soak in a hot soda crystal solution then rinse really well.
Commercial brewers prefer metal because it lasts longer and does not scratch as easily. Stratches can be hard to sanitise. There should be no real difference in the end product.
