eggy, off, smell

high guys il keep it short:
brewing coopers lager and my airlock is giving off a eggy smell that does not smell good at all.
my other brews never gave this smell, have i a problem or not.soz bout lack of info if u need more please post.

hey crouchy,

an eggy sulphurous smell is quite normal with some fermentations, it's made by the yeast, you can get the same smell when fermenting cider

don't worry, it'll be fine

I had the same kit and same smell it will be fine.

It's hard to say without smelling it but it's likely to be OK. Let it ferment out and have a crafty sip (sanitise whatever you use!)

thanks, alot. also how would i no if my brew has been infected.
im a bit worried about the steralizing tablets i used as they wer for babys bottles as my local store ran out of the usual.

as long as you rinsed extremely well with loads of cold water you should be ok, Milton and other sterilising stuff for bairns can hang around for ages.

Taste the brew at the end of primary fermentation. If it is infected you WILL know!

I posted almost the same question a couple of weeks ago!

Coopers Lager really does give off some pretty awful smells when it's fermenting, but better in the air than in the beer!!
