Woodfordes Great Eastern kit - how to enhance?

Post by yashicamat » Wed Jan 28, 2009 11:05 pm

Right, well I've had this kit knocking about for about 4 months now and given I've gone AG it's either got to go or be used. I tried the former with no takers (not suprising really, not exactly easy to post) so I guess I'll make it up instead!

I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to improve it? Thinking maybe making some hop tea (5 min steep in boiled water at 80 deg C) and using that as part of the water added, plus using US-05 rather than the generic yeast it comes with. Any other thoughts?

Cheers. :)

I dunno, they're pretty good kits aren't they? I'd be tempted to leave well alone with those kits. Maybe split it 50/50 between two kegs if you have them, hop one, leave one?

Maybe change the yeast though, they stick don't they?

Yes I've heard about the sticking issue. US-05 tends to attenuate well though so I'm hoping it'll do the trick.
