priming help

hi guys,
to prime last time i added to bottles with funnel. i no you ca add sugar into bottling bucket via boiling it.
im going to be using granulated sugar but dont no how much.
can someone please tell me an give me some pointers on this method please as im ready for bottling today

there sems to be a bit of variation of opinions on here with regards to priming.

what have ye brewed?

Hi Crouchy, in my very limited experience, I have primed lager with 120g of granulated sugar, and bitter with 60g of granulated sugar with good results (for the level of carbonation I like, anyway).

half a level tsp per 500ml bottle is about right

50g to 80g of sugar in 5 gallons would be the usual dose for ales.

if you have a hydrometer then you can take a reading and use the following formula:
% Alcohol = (1.05 x (OG – SG)) / SG x 0.79
where OG is the original gravity which is the reading taken before fermentation(you can probably find a figure for the kit you used on the internet) and the SG is the specific gravity which is the reading taken after fermentation.

if you don't have a hydrometer then you'll just have to go on roughly what the manufacturers say.
