Hi,
I am fairly new to all of this and have made 2 great batches of "Samsons Strong Ale" over the last couple of months. So decided to try something new "Coopers - Dark Ale". I bottled it last Sat and tried 1 last night (as a test of course). Well it was really flat, it had a tiny bit of fizz but not a great deal. I 100% know I added the primer just under 1/2 teaspoon of sugar for each of the 500ml bottles.
Any reason why it would be flat? and could I uncap all the bottles and add a bit more primer?
Cheers
Mark
Primer help...
Re: Primer help...
probably a bit soon to expect any significant change-did you leave the bottles somewhere warm (18-22 degrees)for a week, give them another few weeks and they will be fine
Re: Primer help...
yeah they are in the kitchen which is a fairly constant 21C. Hoping it isn't ruined as the taste from the flat one last night was rather nicekenny850 wrote:probably a bit soon to expect any significant change-did you leave the bottles somewhere warm (18-22 degrees)for a week, give them another few weeks and they will be fine

Re: Primer help...
That OK for the secondary fermentation stage but you will have to move to a cooler temperature for a minimum 4 weeks to get maximum CO2 absorbtion and the fizz.Sadgit wrote: yeah they are in the kitchen which is a fairly constant 21C.
Re: Primer help...
Well I will move them into the garage this weekend then. Odd though as the Samsons was fairly fizzy after 6-7 days in the bottles. I guess each beers take a different amount of time?!? All new to me this is so sorry for my ignoranceLillywhite wrote:That OK for the secondary fermentation stage but you will have to move to a cooler temperature for a minimum 4 weeks to get maximum CO2 absorbtion and the fizz.Sadgit wrote: yeah they are in the kitchen which is a fairly constant 21C.

Right all in the garage now. Is it going to be too cold in there? This morning it was about 3C.. nice and chilled but is it too cold at this stage?
