Two questions please!

My woodfordes kit says keep the temp above 18 c, why does it feel very warm and it is only at 20c should the wort feel that warm? or is my thermometer faulty?
I also have a Brupak fixby gold which has been in a glass carbouy for 12 days and it is still working at a temp of 20c.

i've read somewhere(an american forum i think, maybe northern brewer) that yeast actually produces a small amount of heat when actively fermenting.

That's right, my last brew maintained 18C in my cellar when the ambient room temp was only 15C so that's 3C that the yeast are generating all on their own... :shock:
