Hi,
I've just received this 1-can kit as a present.
Question is, what would you suggest as a suitable 'sugar' replacement? I conscious of trying to preserve the light colour & flavour - would light DME be OK?
Cheers

Racingclub,
Can't help you I'm afraid, but your .sig says you've brewed the Aldi turbo cider. Does it clear - either naturally or with finings - or do you just put up with it staying cloudy?

Ive just done the same kit with candy sugar and it tastes exactly the same as the grand cru - albeit more alcohol. They both have a sugar tang to them which is the overriding flavour.
Personally i'll never touch sugar again - buy some extra-light DME if you can get it.
Good Luck and tell us how it goes!

thanks for all your replies, I might chance it with some Light DME in stock, or at least some Light/Glucose mix

light malt extract should be ok but why not go for wheat malt extract as that will preserve the flavour of the beer so that it really is a wheat beer. i've got one of these kits in to do so ill be interested to see how yours turns out.

Did mine with 500g wheat spraymalt and 250g Brewing sugar,
And turned out rather nice.....eventually. At first taste (6 weeks) had a bit of a tang to it as mentioned below. But mines improved greatly with age (down to the last few bottles circa 6 month vintage!) and they look fairly clear and taste rather nice though more like a Belgium type beer (not that disimilar to Duval which a mate brought round to sup) rather than a wheat beer (certainly nothing like a Franziskanner Heffe / Erdinger which was my preferred tipple atthe time of brewing). Certainly turned out good enough that I'd do the same again.
