I'm sure Ditch will be along before much longer to confirm, but it's the Coopers Stout. http://www.hopandgrape.co.uk/catalog/de ... COO2145745

After reading all the posts and seen Ditch's passion for this particular blackstuff, I have got to try this for myself. Happily I now have a free FV!

Cheers

What sort of ABV would you get with the Coopers kit and DME?

Davvac; It's not a 'blow ye head off' type of brew, done with the DSM. But I'm generally happy with it that way, because I tend to sit here supping for hours on end. I usually start at shortly gone 17:00 and may well be at it for anything up to twelve hours! So, for me, it's about soothing a smokey throat and having an extremely pleasant companion for a long night :)

I Do drop the water level a bit though, just to give myself the impression I've beefed it up a bit, now and then. But, I imagine, adding some 'sugar' would truly tip the balance. Someone on here recently said they were doing a brew with a healthy measure of ~ was it? ~ glucose? I seem to remember they hit a healthy 5+. Sounds alright to me!

Above all; Be ye own man. Do what ever ye feel will give that edge of Extra perfection to what I already consider just about my own perfect pint

In Direct answer to ye question? Buggered if I know; I stopped bothering with the Hydrometer ages ago. Can barely see to read the damn thing. I just take it as it comes now.

I started one Monday evening with 500g medium & 500g dark dme, made up to 20ltr with an OG 1047.
I'm expecting/hoping that this will FG @ approx 1012 giving an ABV 4.69%. (fingers crossed)

I like your style Ditch.

I'm not hung up on the strength too much either to be honest, but I do like to know I've had a drink if you follow me

I'm going to brew it "Classic Ditch", which is using medium spray malt as I remember. Once I've got that one under me belt, I might muck about with the fermentables for future brews.

Cheers
