First Kit - Which to Choose

Post by AlexCricket » Wed Feb 25, 2009 10:39 am

I am about to embark on my first kit and wonder which would be a recommended.

I have considered Woodfordes Wherry or Brupacks Colne Valley

Thought I'd decided on Woodforde's and then heard of the horrors of stuck ferments.

Any recommendations?

Am after a traditional Bitter to start with - not too bitter but with a good amount of Hop. Something like an Old Speckled Hen or Abbot Ale.

Nearest to Speckled Hen is rumoured by some to be Muntons Gold Smugglers Special Premium Ale, could try that, or if you like 'hoppy' brews try a Brupaks Fixby Gold :) A real 'foolproof' kit would be to grab a Coopers kit of your liking, cheaper and very good, easy too for beginners.
Dont worry too much about your first brew, get used to developing good habits, i.e cleanliness, sanitation, and get comfortable with the process and your equipment.

Then enjoy your own brewed =D> beer

Thanks KP - shouldn't you be warming up for the Barbados Test?
