Drinking my first brew
Drinking my first brew
I'm drinking my very first brew - Colne Valley Bitter and I just have to say I'm so pleased with it! I really should leave it for another couple of weeks to mature, apparently, but it's great already. What an excellent hobby this is

How lucky you are, can't wait to get started! don't over do it, make it last, well you never know who might turn up for a tasting!!! ha ha!

The way to get around that? Brew til ye cannot stand, then ye should have a nice rolling stock, when one beer is ready for drinking, another is conditioning, and another is fermenting, that way, ye never run out of beer!Jerry Cornelius wrote: I really should leave it for another couple of weeks to mature, apparently, but it's great already. congratulations on the brew Jerry
Benson's Advice is spot on - I invested in a second FV in order to be able to produce so much more than I can consume that at least on of my brews is going to reach some sort of maturity. Like you my first couple of brews barely got acquainted with the pressure barrel...

Re: Drinking my first brew
I'm building a stock up, Coopers Bitter in the barrell, Wherry in bottles, Nelsons Revenge in the bucket, wife thinks I'm mad. REALLY don't want to buy beer from shops anymore. Especially as I can make it for around 50p a pint. Best thing I've done in years.
Re: Drinking my first brew
i'm finding that my biggest problem is space - any more than 2 FVs and even an AG setup just isn't going to fly....
I've got three more kits up my sleeve including another Coopers IPA as that is proving to be quite lush. Best get that on to ensure it has aged at least 2 weeks (heh) before my current stock runs out.=!

Re: Drinking my first brew
Hoodlum you're right, space is the biggest problem. I can keep an FV indoors and two crates of bottles at the moment. When it gets warmer in the summer, I don't know how I'm gonna keep any more than 80 bottles at the right temperature. I've got a fridge in the garage which will hold the same amount, but that's it, unless I buy another fridge.
