Homebrew on tour
Im off in the caravan at Easter and want to take some of my lovely coopers brewmaster i.p.a with me.I brew in 2ltr pet bottles so I was thinking of syphoning the beer out of bottles into a clean f.v leaving sediment behind then syphoning back into clean bottles and maybe add half teaspoon sugar to give a bit of fizz.Anyone got any ideas Ive not tried it before and dont wont to pay silly money for beer thats not as good as mine

It will basically be OK but you will not get much of a fizz in the few days you have left before drinking.

If you can get the beer really cold and transfer bottle to bottle you should retain a fair amount of fizz.
Best wishes

I'll go along with OSB. For parties/barbies/festivals etc I put two-pint bottles in the fridge for about three/four hours and then transfer them into sterlised Robinson's one litre plastic squash bottles. The cooler they are the less likely they are to produce lots of foam. These go in an esky (insulated bag) for consumption of a warm summer evening.
You can cool your bottles in the freezer for no more than an hour but you will get spectacular though regrettable results if you forget them. A number of times I've discovered two halves of shattered glass and frozen ale in the bottom of the freezer the next day. In other words, don't do it

Right then, are you saying just cool them in fridge before re- bottling .The idea was add a little priming sugar in the hope there was still enough yeast in suspension to give a little sparkle.Im going for a week and dont wont to drink flat beer

I've never added sugar in these circumstances and things have always worked out fine. In any case you've got four days to experiment. Bottle some of your beer now and try it tomorrow. Have a good holiday!
