Hi
I'm about start a Coopers Wheat Beer, I've bought 1kg of Wheat Spray malt to use instead of sugar. I've read when using sugar it's advisable to dissolve it in a pan of boiling water before adding to the fermentation bucket. Would you advise doing the same for Spray Malt?

Re: Dissolving Spray Malt in Boiling water
Some say it (spraymalt) tends to clump when added to boiling water (I can vouch for that) and that it's better to add it when the water is a bit cooler which is what I'm going to try on my next brew.
Best wishes

What I've done so far is just heat up about 2 Litres of water in a pan until not far from boiling, dump each packet of spray malt in stirring after each, simmer for a few minutes and hey presto... no clumps, lumps or Flumps! (easy way if you are adding extra hops etc too, just strain through a sterilized sieve into the FV)
I then use this to dissolve the kit contents in the FV

I add my boiled water to the FV to dissolve the malt. By the time I've mixed it the temperature has dropped, I then add the sugars a small amount at a time whilst I continue to stir. To date I haven't had a single problem

I mixed the spray malt with kit contents in a pan and then gradually added in the 3 Litres of water

Whatever you do, just make sure you stir it in straight away. I was trying to do two things at one last week and had to fish out lumps and dissolve them in a little wort.
