Bottle carbonation too low

Post by jat147 » Wed Apr 08, 2009 6:01 pm

Howdy,
I've done a few kits recently with some success - i.e. they dont taste like drain cleaner  . I've done some Muntons Wheatbeer, an Abdij and a Muntons Bock but despite them tasting ok and being fairly correct in colour there is little life.
When poured into a glass there is sufficient head which does stay for a while, but there is very little fizz, and what there is seems to die off within a few minutes. How can I get a better carbonation without turning the bottles into mini Guysers?
Thanks for reading.
James

Instead of using sugar, use dry malt extract or even another tin of liquid malt extract.

I didn't mean prime with extract. I meant brew with extract as in keep sugar out of the recipe.
