Brupaks Brewer's Choice High OG - again!?

This is my second dry kit. The Old Ale one, with 1kg DME as the choice. The OG was measured as 1.061 - way too high for what's expected. Funny thing is, the first was too high as well - that one got down to 1.013 with out any problems, and was bottled yesterday, so i can't tell yet how it's going to turn out, but I have high hopes! - if I use the expected OG of 1.048 - 50 that gives about 4.5% ABV which is fine for me.

I'm wondering if the high reading was due to me filling the trial jar from the tap at the bottom of the FV. Perhaps the wort was just denser there? To be honest, I'm not convinced that was the reason because I gave it a damn good stir as I poured in the DME until there was a big foamy head on it, and then I used a jug to pour in the cold water from as high as I could, so it was really aerated. After that I stirred like mad for five minutes, and then filled the trial jar, but I can't think of anything else!

Any ideas anyone?

Iv just done the The Old Ale kit and my OG was high too.

beer turned out 5.5%

Blimey, I didn't expect the Spanish inquisition

Jerry Cornelius is a character from some books I read many years ago, and I've used that name on different forums for years - long before I ever knew there were kegs with the same name!
And, depending on how many beers I've had, I love everyone The other day when I was bored and looking for avatars I just happened to be listening to Loose Ends on BBC 4 and CA was making me laugh, so I just picked him cause his picture was on my screen. But I don't look like him, more like this -
