Light strike in a fermenter??

How do chaps?

Feel free to laugh and point and call me a dumb ***** but......... ya know this light strike malarky, well will me brew be affected whilst its in the fermenting bin fermenting away in front of me kitchen window? Ive got those youngs fv bins that are clear plastic and it just hit me that maybe im not doin me brew any favours leavin it in the light?

Am i as stupid as i suspect?

Not at all, it's a very good point and often overlooked.

I wrap a bin bag around the fermenter, as suggested by NB. :wink:

I had a batch of Munich Dunkel in the shed window for a couple of months, inside two bin bags because they were the cheap thin ones. Worked fine, no light strike.

cheers chaps, a bin bag it is ! never entered me head before that it might affect the actual brewing process rather than at the maturation period once bottled,

Time to pitch in with my ignorance.
I used to be worried about this too but I read somewhere that isomerised hops (invariably used in kit beers) are unaffected by light strike.
Is this correct or should I get me coat?
