Sugar

Hi guys,
Could you explain to me the difference between using different types of sugar for kit brewing?

For example, If I was planning on making a dark ale, I would buy a dark ale concentrate, and add 1kg of dark spraymalt....

what woul happen if I added 750g of Spray malt and 250g of Very dark sugar? or 250g of dark treacle?

Similarly, if I was making a light ale, what would happen if instead of adding 1kg of light spraymalt I added 750g and 250g of honey?

I presume honey has a different sugar content to spraymalt, so would you have to add more of less than the 250g?
Likewise for the dark bear I presume dark treacle has a different sugar content to spraymalt..... so same question applies.

Is there a table anywhere which says 1kg sugar= xkg of honey etc?

Someone will jump in with more technical speak, but whilst you are waiting...
Sugar is more fermentable that spraymalt, so if you use all sugar, you will get higher alcohol content, but a thinner flavour.
If you use spraymalt only, it will produce a fuller taste, but have a lower ABV. Personally I choose 50-50, like the Munton beer kit enhancer. All you can do is experiment I suppose, peoples tastebuds are different, find out what works for you.
Using 750gm SM and 250gm sugar will up the ABV a bit, and thin the taste a bit. The only way to really answer it, is to do 2 kits, differ the fermentables, then taste test.

Thanks...
Do White sugar and darker (eg muscovado (sp)) sugars have the same fermentation properties or do they differ?
