Own brew to kit??

Post by Steven98 » Thu Jun 25, 2009 11:11 pm

Hey guys,

Just doing my first kit one now, going well been going for a day and plenty of activity from the looks of it

Anyway this may belong in another forum but is anyone who makes their own recipe(s) able to turn it into a kit, and if so is anyone prepared to do this and then send it up etc??

I know this is my first kit so probably need to be patient but a lot of people seem to make their own using recipes etc and I would like to try these etc

Thanks
Steven

Hi Steve. Dont think you will find many footy fans here......we're all bikers  I think what you are looking for is to adapt a kit to improve it. There is no substitute for All Grain brewing but you can buy some "premium kits" those which usually have 2 cans of extract. You can also improve a basic kit by using spray malt rather that sugar. If you must use sugar, use brewing sugar (glucose etc) Try adding hops to the kit. There are lots of posts on here. It depends on the type of brew you prefer (lager, bitter, stout etc) Be patient, experiment and let it mature! I'm not aware of anyone who has come up with a recipe and turned it into a kit. Once you get the bug things will develop and you will turn into a helpless blithering wreck, like the rest of us.

Good luck and welcome along :=P

If you want to follow recipes you'll have to go over to either Extract Brewing or Full Mash Brewing (also referred to as All Grain). My advice would be to do a few kits to get used to the processes of fermentation, bottling, kegging and sanitisation before branching out. IMHO extract brewing is an excellent next step. You don't need much extra equipment and the quality of the beer you can produce is way above any kit.

no my logic thinking sort of was those of you make your own beer once you've done making the mix etc does it turn into the same syrupy stuff that is in a beer kit.

if it is, can someone can / bottle it and send it my way, if not then fair enough, im guessing it doesn't quite work like that

sort of instead of making the beer you make it into a kit for others

Thanks
Steven

P.s, my old man was a man utd supporter, as you can imagine i followed suit, never changed teams however so im not a glory fan in my eyes. =D> =D> =D>
