wat's edme lager supposed to taste like

just cracked open first bottle of edme lager
tastes & looks more like bitter, is it supposed to, could it be a cock-up with labeling. suppose after 40 pints might get the taste

They probably supplied an ale yeast, unfortunately if you want a lager which tastes like lager you have to use a lager yeast at cool temperatures.

Dunno what its 'sposed to taste like, but the edme lager I brewed tastes better than all the other lagers kits I brewed. From Wilko's range, that is... I know eveyone raves on about Coopers kits, but my edme kit tastes much better than the Coopers Aussie. All made with BKE, I might add... Could be just me though, the Coopers is still a bit young at the moment.

If it's the Edme Superbrew Gold German-style lager you're referring to, it really is good, especially after it has matured for six or seven weeks. I gave some to a guy who worked in Bremen and he said it was as good as anything he could buy there.

As for the taste, it is not the bright gold, gassy stuff that we tend to associate with lager. It is quite a lot more subtle than that.
