Coopers stout explosion

Post by the real deal » Fri Jul 03, 2009 10:01 am

Well this is just another story of how the coopers stout never fails to perform.
After all the great hype on this forum about ditch's stout I couldn't hold back any longer so I perchased a coopers stout and made it up with 500g of DDSM & MDSM.
I made it up as per instructions and then the waiting game began. After 18hrs waiting and nothing had happened with the yeast I thought maybe I was in for my first ever failed yeast kick. How could this be with the weather so warm and the fermenter is sitting at a nice 20/21 degress. :?
So I thought I'll put it in the sleeping bag and wait it out for another 24hrs or so. Well needless to relate the stout didn't require a second invitation to the party, a mear 5 hrs later it has poured out the top of the fermenter and is all over the sleeping bag. :D
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this stout is as good as the hype coz I love my stouts. Can't wait for the grand opening/tasting day for this brew when its ready.

The hype is true, it is lovely stuff. I'm currently going through a barrel. Made it with BKE, lovely malty chocolate coffee type flavour.

I just liked the bit about it being all over the sleeping bag. For some strange, unimaginable reason, that just struck me as Dirty! 8)

Probably some deeply locked, unconscious memory of my younger days .....

'thar she blows,

I put mine together last night, short filled it to be on the safe side. Then of course after all the hot weather the temp drops, so was worried the back store might get a bit cold for it.

but no, this morning shes coming up through the air lock :D :D :D

Maybe that should be the "War cry" that becomes a tradition when we all pitch
the yeast into the black gold.? :D

BTW Ditch, been following your blog... it never fails to make me laugh, thanks. =D>
