Firstly I presume that added additional priming sugar ?

Anyway if you had primed I would first check for leaks - make sure that the top of the keg is not hissing by putting a bit of water around the edge of the cap rim and seeing if bubbles appear. IF you have an CO2 injection cap - either bulbs or cylinder - it may be worth adding some to the barrel as it would make a leak more noticeable.

Is the keg in a warm place - it will initially need to be somewhere about as warm as it was to ferment as afterall that is what you are asking it to do. But also if it is in too cold a location all the CO2 will dissolve into the liquid and make the beer appear flat.

Try these first if no joy then ask again - someone will know.

How long was it in the FV, what is the brew volume, and how much priming sugar did you use?

If you only added 4oz of sugar to the whole brew then there's your answer

A typical kit requires about 1KG (2.2 pounds) of sugar to ferment in the FV. About 80g (3oz) to prime ale and as much as double for some lager kits.

[quote="Chris-x1"]A typical kit does NOT require 2.2lbs of sugar, it depends entirely on which kit we are talking about now (and personal preference although that's beside the point).

I should have been more specific..........I was refering to basic one can kits, typical of those found in many retail outlets. Based on the later comment,it looks like it was a good guess :D

Can't answer that one, but when using a barrel, put a smear of Vaseline (other jellies are available!) on the seals, to ensure a good seal.

Hi Carl
Don’t bin it yet. Go through the checks that everyone has given you. You may have even answered it yourself. The lid seal maybe leaking. Take it off and have a look. Put it back with some Vaseline around the threads. You haven’t said what keg or which kit. It may help some of us to point at something. Never give up on a potential savable brew. You'll learn more by trying to solve this than chucking it out. Keep us all posted.
