Has my Wherry stopped or just finished?

Post by Weejock » Wed Sep 16, 2009 3:44 pm

I am a complete beginner at home brewing and have a few questions about two kits I have started...

I Bought a Woodfordes Wherry kit and an FV from Wilkos. The bubbles in the airlock stopped on the third day, hydrometer reading on day 4 was 1.014 and the same on day 5. Could it really of finished that quick or has it stalled?

The other kit I bought a little earlier was Coopers Micro brewery starter kit, Lager. The fermenting has finished after 6 days however the sample drawn off for the hydrometer reading was very cloudy. Will it clear in the bottles or should I wait until it is clear before bottling?

Many thanks guys for any help.

The Wherry that I've just done fermented out very quickly. It won't hurt to leave it a couple more days to see if it drops lower.

Thanks gentlemen.

I'll leave the Wherry for a few more days and start bottling the Coopers.

My wherry did the same thing, just give it very gentle stir, mine kicked back into life for a few days after a stir and reached 1010.

Thanks Donnydarko, I followed your advice and it is starting to foam on top again.
