Diablo's been boiled...

Post by Steiney66 » Fri Sep 18, 2009 1:19 pm

Hi all
I started a Diablo at the weekend & all was fine until yesterday when I left the brewbelt on for nigh on the whole day by accident - & the wort in the fv felt quite (too) warm. Ive taken a reading & its down to 1013 but will the temp it was at ruin the brew?(still smells quite nice).

Any advice appreciated

I've did the Diabolo a last year, and I left the brew belt on all the way through, and it had no detrimental effect - in fact once bottled and conditioned, it was a damn fine pint indeed! I think the instructions suggest a temperature of about 25'C for fermentation, so just sit tight, be patient, and you should be rewarded with a cracking pint! Just remember that with the Brewferms, patience is needed - the longer you leave it to condition, the better and better it gets!

Steiney I wouldn't worry; Mikey is right, the brewferm instructions say "stand the fermentor in a warm place (25c) and let ferment for about 10 days". I only fermented 1 Brewferm kit at this temp (2 kits made to 24 litres) in the boiler room; notes say it was 26c air temp and fermented for 11 days with 8 days in secondary at same temp. The beer turned out fine, in fact a couple of bottles made it to a year old and were superb. It fermented out to 1006

Cheers for the assurance chaps - still learnin the basics, I had read that fermenting at too high a temp could ruin the ale, obviously brewferm likes it a bit warmer. Will leave it to its own steam then. Roll on December (if I can show some self-control!!) =P~
