Plastic push on bottle caps

Post by RIP » Sat Oct 10, 2009 9:28 am

I bought a few of these to try for my last brew and pushed them onto the beer bottles and give them a bit of a tap. The beer is carbonated but not as much as it could be as I think the caps have leaked slightly. I gave a bottle a shake last night and you could hear the air hissing out. I'm going to try metal caps next time. I also have a few old glass cider bottles in the shed with the metal screw caps on them, will these screw type bottles be OK ?

I was told they were ideal for bottling by my homebrew shop - found out thats if you like your beer flat. I do find them useful when I want to wash & sterilise the day before bottling - I pop them on after pouring a drop of sterile solution in the bottle.
