HAZY BREW
HAZY BREW
My first brew a Woodefordes Admirals reserve was very quick to finish fermenting . Around five days it was barrelled and transfered to the cooler shed . After five weeks i have took several( five pints) out to sample!!! tastes superb but has a hazy appearance! is this normal or should i leave longer etc etc . Also it says it should be 4.5% on the box but it does seem a little weak!! my hydrometer reading is 1.012 .
Re: HAZY BREW
putting it into the barrel after only 5 days isn't going to help. even if it had finished fermenting that quickly the majority of the yeast will still be suspended in the brew. leaving it for longer will help as more yeast will settle out. i have left brews 3 or 4 weeks with no adverse effects.

Re: HAZY BREW
Same thing for me with a Wherry. Mine was about a week in the f/v is only now (7 weeks in barrel) really starting to lose it's haze.
I must admit it's really improved with age, I'd happily do this kit again
