Hi chaps, newbie here, only on my third brew so all a bit innocent to the way of the Home brewer- been reading an old copy of brewing better beers- so trying to make up for lost time.
Started with a Coopers brewkit with old ale swapped for the standard aus. lager, then coopers premium pilsner and now muntons winter warmer is clearing in the airing cupboard...
Anyroad,The Pilsner kit was Coopers premium pilsner made using muntons light spray malt, also using the spray malt as bottle priming, trying to get the right amount in.
My problem is now (two months on) the yeast is not crusting at the bottom of the bottle- give it a swirl and its all cloudy!
This is causing some consternation as I worry that I may have over primed the bottles OR bottled a touch too early? As the first couple of bottles went up like versuvious, the next I opened after chilling then left a day in the fridge- that was great- but the main problem is when opened the clear beer's gas just drags up all the sediment giving me a very cloudy glassful!
HELP- what can be done?
getting yeast to crust in coopers pilsner?
Re: getting yeast to crust in coopers pilsner?
The beer will never crust but will compact, sometimes so hard you can get all the beer out but this is rare. Picking a bottle up and swirling it will make it go cloudy.
If you cannot open a bottle and pour reasonably quickly without yeast floating to the top it sounds as if you have too much fizz. You could open them all up to release the pressure, re-cap and wait for them to clear again.

cheers, was thinking on those lines- I did overprime I reckon- the most success i have had wa sto release pressure and then stick it back in the fridge until it clears- got a pint out before it clouded up again.
was wondering about trying to freeze the bottom cm of the bottle to hold the yeast- not quite sure how...
