Time to admit defeat and keg it?
Time to admit defeat and keg it?
For a few days my brew has had an SG of 1013. On monday night it dropped to 1012 and hasn't changed since. Ive been giving it a good stir daily for about 4 days to achieve this drop (being careful not to introduce air into the mix). Should I maintain the current routine of stirring daily to try and achieve an FG of 1010 or should I admit defeat, give it a day or two untouched to allow everything to settle down and keg at 1012? Will there be any adverse effects to kegging at 1012?

I would keg it now. That's not a bad final SG; I dropped my last kit into a barrel at 1.014 and it has worked treat. It's been in the barrel for nearly three weeks now and I drew pint off last night to check it, I wasn't sure so I had to draw another pint off!
It's going into the shed for a couple of weeks now to mature a bit; if it stays in the house it wont last the week!
Good luck with it.

Good luck with it.
If I had all the money I'd spent on brewing... I'd spend it on brewing!

Depending on what it is, 1.012 sounds fine to me, my beers end up between 1.010 to 1.015 depending on what grain bill I have used. You should be fine!!

Sorry, should have said in my 1st post. It's Woodforde's Admirals Reserve and its SG was 1039.
