I've brewed this kit very successfully a number of times. It is nothing like Leffe, much more like a normal lager. It comes with an ale yeast though, so don't expect that crispness in the taste that you normally associate with lager. Having said that it is a very good pint and much more like a lager than an ale. Even the wife will drink it but she wouldn't touch an ale. I always used brewing sugar with it as well.
I've moved on to Coopers European Pilsner now as it has more of the genuine lager taste.
